PDC World Championship - Semifinals
Michael van Gerwen won the first semi-final against James Wade with 6:4. In the third leg of the fifth Set he threw a nine-darter and produced almost another one in the next leg but missed the double 12 for it. Wade never gave in and managed the 3:3 but he couldn't hinder van Gerwen to win the following two sets. Wade stopped him and won his fourth leg but already in the following set van Gerwen was again in front and wrapped up victory with double 8.
In the second semi-final Phil Taylor already had a 5:1 lead when Raymond van Barneveld started a comeback and reduced the arrears to 4:5. But Taylor got ahead in the 10. set, prevented that the Dutchman could level and claimed the victory.
So in the final on 1. January Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor will stand at the oche.

30. December
PDC World Championship - Quarterfinals 2
While the first two quarterfinals were rather one-sided the other two quarterfinals both developed into thrilling and hard fought matches. Wes Newton first had an advantage over James Wade and won the first two sets but then Wade proved to be more consistent and steadier on the doubles and won four sets in a row. Newton regained momentum and managed the 4:4 but somehow lost power in the deciding set again and Wade prevailed.
Had the first quarterfinal of the evening already been a good and thrilling match the second between reigning champion Adrian Lewis and Michael van Gerwen was even better. Thanks to his higher scores van Gerwen at first dominated the match. But Lewis improved and then was a absolutely equal opponent, who scored more consistenly and was able to punish in the mid of the match van Gerwens double trouble with his own clinical finishing. This match as well went into a deciding ninth set. Lewis missed two matchdarts on double tops - key darts which decided the match in van Gerwens favour.
So the second semi-final tomorrow will be James Wade v Michael van Gerwen.

PDC World Championship - Quarterfinals 1
The first two quarterfinals of this year's World Championship were both rather one-sided affairs.
Simon Whitlock just couldn't find a way to stop a brilliant playing Raymond van Barneveld and lost 1:5. Andy Hamilton never really was in the match against a strong playing Phil Taylor, won only two legs and lost with 0:5.
So on Sunday one of the semi-finals will be Raymond van Barneveld against Phil Taylor.
But first tomorrow the other two quarterfinals will be played.

Despite an ancle injury Michael van Gerwen dominated his match against Colin Lloyd and won it 4:1. He progressed into the quarterfinals where he will mit on Saturday the reigning champion Adrian Lewis who won the last match of the evening against Kevin Painter 4:2. Though both players never played even near their best this match was the most interesting match in the evening session.
Before Raymond van Barneveld had dominated his match against Gary Anderson. Only in the first set the match lived up to expectations. After that Gary Anderson once again got into double trouble and even his usually scoring power seemed to have left him so that the Dutchman won 4:0.
Tonight the tournament will go on with the quarterfinals between Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld and the match between Phil Taylor and Andy Hamilton.

The World Phase 7
Phase 7 of the World tournament which was played in Las Vegas was not really a success for the North American top players. Winner was Lourence Ilagan from the Philippines who had already won Phase 5 of this year's tournament. He defeated in the final the not really well-known American Scott A.Miller. Annother player from the Philippines reached the semi-finals.
Rather surprisingly it seems the American players had some problems especially with the in North America popular and wide spread cricket.

World Matchplay 2. Round
Even a nine-darter was not enough for Wes Newton ot overcome Justin Pipe. In a very close match he had the higher average as well but in the end it was Justin Pipe who progressed into the quarterfinals.
Other winners of the evening were a strong playing Andy Hamilton, Ronnie Baxter who's clinical finishing helped him to reach second round while Winstanley couldn't find the double and Phil Taylor. It certainly was not one of Taylor's best matches - as he admitted afterwards he just didn't feel at all agressive playing Ian White whom he knows quite well.

World Matchplay 2. Round
Michael van Gerwen opened the second round of the tournament with a bombshell - in his match against Steve Beaton he threw a nine-darter. It was the fourth nine-darter in the history of the tournament. But the young Dutchman delighted the crowd not only with the nine-darter, he impressed by his performance as well and he defeated the strong playing Steve Beaton with 13:9. For the first time van Gerwen progressed to the quarterfinals of a major tournament.
The following match between James Wade and Mark Walsh proved to be less thrilling though Wade showed a high class performance as well but he dominated the match throughout against a not really good Mark Walsh. Wade defeated him 13:4. Terry Jenkins won 13:10 against Raymond van Barneveld who didn't come across really determined. Adrian Lewis dominated his match against Andy Smith almost as much as had Wade against Walsh though Smith started a comeback. But it was too late and Lewis won 13:7.

With Anderson and Taylor two of the favourites will miss the tournament. So who will win? The betting companies all seem to back the at the moment strong playing Dave Chisnall, who was one of the winners last weekend in Crawley. Another player in great form is Colin Lloyd, who was the second winner last weekend. Phil Taylor regained Premier League title
In a first one-sided but then thanks to a strong fightback from Simon Whitlock thrilling final Phil Taylor secured himself with a 10:7 win the Premier League title. In the light of Taylor's performance throughout this year's Premier League it was a more then justified title though today he played neither in the semi-finals nor in the final as dominant and had both times to fight hard to prevail.
Simon Whitlock and Andy Hamilton had both played strong in the first semi-final. In the second leg Whitlock threw a nine-darter but otherwise had not many darts on the doubles as Hamilton proved to be very sure to hit his. But Whitlock managed to get back into the match, Hamilton was no longer as sure on the doubles and Whitlock used his chances to win the match and to progress into the final.
James Wade as well showed a strong performance in the second semi-final in which Taylor at the beginning for his standards couldn't convince and fell behind. But in the end he survived with 8:6 and progressed into the final.

Phil Taylor defeated Raymond van Barneveld in Sheffield with 8:3. After the break the match was on the rocks but van Barneveld didn't manage the 4:4 and Taylor pulled away.
Gary Anderson only got a single point out of his two matches. Against a frisky James Wade he didn't have many chances and was defeated 3:8. Against Andy Hamilton he was 7:4 in the lead but then let Hamilton back into the match and Hamilton managed the 7:7 draw. So it get's even more diffcult for Anderson now to defend the title.
Simon Whitlock experienced that Kevin Painter is a rather gritty opponent but won the match 8:5 and stays on second place in the league table.

After Tony West with his brother Steve West and Stuart Kellet two more BDO players switched to the PDC. Michael Barnard already plays in the PDC for several years but was ranked to low in the Order of Merit to get a Tour Card automatically. So he had to take part in Qualifying School.

Kist new BDO World Champion
Dutchman Christian Kist is the new BDO World Champion.

He defeated in a thrilling though not throughout high-class final Tony O'Shea with 7:5. O'Shea was more nervous then debutant Kist at the beginning of the final and his usual accuracy on the doubles had left him. A rather cool looking Kist could take almost every chance O'Shea gave him and got a 5:1 lead. Then O'Shea suddenly recovered abd now it was Kist who who was in trouble. O'Shea managed the 5:5 but then Kist was back and despite O'Shea's strong resistance he could win the last two sets to win the match.

Ted Hankey will get Tour Card
The PDC announced that the PDC Tour Card offer to all Lakeside semi-finalists still is valid though it had for some time disappeared from the PDC Homepage.
So it's certain Ted Hankey will get a Tour Card and doesn't have to play through Qualifying School. Which plans the other three Lakeside semi-finalists have for their future in darts is not yet known.

14. January
Ted Hankey switches to PDC
In an interview after his semi-final defeat Ted Hankey announced he'll switch to the PDC.
Before the match he had an argument with BDO officials because he refused to sign a contract with the BDO which would have bound him as semi-final participant to stay in the BDO and play next years BDO World Championship. After the match Hankey accused the persons responsible to have toggled the air-condition so that it affected his game...
It's not known yet whether Hankey will get a Tour Card immediately or whether he would have to go through Qualifiying School to win one, but there is evidence to suggest he'll be spared Qualifying School.

BDO World Championship
Dutchman Christan Kist and Tony O'Shea tomorrow will play the final of the BDO World Championship 2012.
Christan Kist won a close match against Ted Hankey who throw away his opprtunity to win. Compared to the other matches Kist had played during the tournament it was a weaker performance by him. Before the match Ted Hankey had an argument with BDO officials. He even threatend he would default.

As in the first semi-final the performance of both players in the second was their weakest in the tournament - nevertheless it was a thrilling and close match. But usually after a high score a rather weak one followed. Beside O'Shea had some problems with the board - all in all he had 14 bouncers during the match. So at 5:5 there was another break to change the board and look after the air-conditiong which seemed to affect both players - a similar situation as in the recent PDC semi-final between Adrian Lewis and James Wade. The match was very balanced, in the end O'Shea could win it thanks to his more clinical finishing.

13. January
BDO World Championship
The last two men's quarterfinals were won by Dutchman Christian Kist and Ted Hankey.
Dutchman Christian Kist once again showed a good performance as did Alan Norris who nevertheless couldn't keep up. Kist soon was in the lead and was even able to prevent a threatening comeback by Norris. In the end Kist won 5:1. Kist who had qualified by the International Play-Offs for the World Championship is the only not seeded player in the semifinals
The result of the second quarterfinal was the same - 5:1 for Hankey - but it was only in patches as good as the first one. Both players were not really sure with their doubles but in most situations Ted Hankey was a step ahead of Martin Atkins. So Atkins as Alan Norris could only win a single set.
The two semi-finals which will be played torrow now are: Tony O'Shea v Wesley Harms and Ted Hankey v Christan Kist. Two times England v Holland, two times experienced player against emerging talent. Could be interesting matches!

With a 2:1 win against Deta Hedman Anastasia Dobromyslova won the title for the second time.
In the first set Hedman overrun Dobromyslova. But the the Russian got more and more confident and got much surer with her doubles. After Hedman had miscalculated a finish and missed two matchdarts in the second set Dobromyslova dominated the match and won it in style with a bullsey-finish.

In the women's final tomorrow Deta Hedman and Anastasia Dobromyslova will meet. Deta Hedman defeated Lorraine Farlam 2:1, Anastasia Dobromyslova won in the second semi-final against - a visibly still suffering from the dead of her mother last week - Trina Gulliver.
Winners of the two men's quarterfinals were Dutchman Wesley Harms and Tony O'Shea.
Harms and his English opponent Paul Jennings - both World Championship - debutants played an at first rather nervous match. The Dutchman managed to settle while Paul Jennings never played at his best and was defeated 5:3.
The first four sets of the match between reigning champion Martin Adams and Tony O'Shea certainly were one of the highlights of this year's tournamen. Both players then dropped off a bit though they still showed a good performance. Both averaged around 94. O'Shea soon played himself into the lead and threw a greta 170 finihs. Adams never seemed really to recover from it though he was able to increase his double quote. Tony O'Shea deserved his 5:2 win and will now play on Saturday in the semi-finals against Dutchman Wesley Harms.

BDO World Championship
Out of the last second round matches Martin Atkins, Ted Hankey, Christian Kist and Alan Norris progressed into the quarterfinals.
Martin Atkins was already 3:0 in the lead against Willy van de Wiel when the Dutch player started a comeback. But Atkins held his nerve and won 4:2. The match between Ted Hankey and Scott Waites was a rather scatty match in which both players had strong and weak phases. Ted Hankey prevailed. Belgian Geert de Vos only could keep up with Christian Kist at the beginning of the match. Then his performance sagged and Kist won without problems 4:2. Kist once again had the highest average of the evening.
The last match of the evening between Dean Winstanley and Alan Norris resembled the first one between Atkins and van de Wiel. Winstanley soon was 3:0 in the lead. Then Norris started to fight back. But Winstanley couldn't find the means to halt Norris and lost 3:4.
Today the first two men's quarterfinals and the ladies semi-finals will be played.

Adrian Lewis defended his World Champion Title against Andy Hamilton with a 7:3 win.
After all the thrilling matches during the tournament the final was almost an anticlimax. Neither Lewis nor Hamilton could build on their performance shown in the semi-finals. There were a lot of not so high scores and Hamilton was far less sure on his doubles then in his other matches. So he was often unabale to use his chances. Lewis on the other hand was always at the right place when it was important and deserved the win.
