World Grand Prix 2014

Here is our preview of The World Grand Prix tournament starting on Monday!
There I was, waiting patiently for a televised darts tournament to come along when two arrive at the same time! As from a week on Friday (10th October) the PDC and the BDO will go head to head for TV fans as The World Grand Prix, double in, double out tournament from Dublin reaches the final stages. Kicking off on Friday will be the BDO Winmau Masters from Hull, I am a huge fan of both events!

But let's split the events in two and start with the World Grand Prix in Dublin. As we have been around for a few years now you can look back at last year's blog to understand what fascinates us about this event.

Briefly it is the extra mental pressure the double in format brings that makes it so interesting. Players forgetting they need a double start and popping a dart in the treble, the player that resolutely sticks to their favourite double despite missing again and again. We also love the player with a plan, a player that knows exactly what his game plan is should the 1st, 2nd or 3rd dart not go in the double!

During the past two tournaments in Dublin we have been spoiled by having our man on the spot - Aidan Farrelly at the event. Aidan has bagged some amazing interviews and posted them up on the Darts Performance Centre site for us. If you are serious about improving your game then there is no better way to get you on the road of self-improvement than by taking advice from guys that have come through the ranks and mix it on the PDC stage.
Aidan has had advice and tips from The Power and unforgettable insights from Gary Anderson, Brendan Dolan, Barney and MVG to name but a few.
Also Aidan has confirmed he will be there again this year and will be sharing his interviews with the first round winners on here as well as on his podcast show-Darts Talk. Watch or listen out for that!

We will be back later in the week with a more in-depth look at the games.
