JDC World Championship Final 2019

Van der Velde wins JDC World Championship

Jurjen van der Velde lifted the Junior Darts Corporation World Championship title after a 4:2 win over Lennon Craddock at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday. Dutch youngster van der Velde, who was inspired to start playing darts two years ago by Gary Anderson, won the second staging of the JDC event, following in the footsteps of Rusty-Jake Rodriguez in 2017. The pair had won through the early rounds of the tournament in Bristol on Sunday, and played out an entertaining contest at Alexandra Palace to contest the title.

The opening four legs all went with the throw before 15-year-old van der Velde, a winner of the WDF Europe Cup Youth and World Youth Masters in 2018, broke the Craddock throw in leg five. The Leg saw van der Velde fire in the only 180 of the contest and, after missing a dart at double for a 12-dart leg, the Dutchman eventually pinned double five to go 3:2 up. Craddock kept the pressure on but van der Velde wrapped up the sixth and final leg on double two for a memorable victory.

The 2019 JDC Tour will begin in January 2019 with ten events leading uo to the World Finals.
