Murray surprise winner of Group 20
Pro Tour newcomer Ryan Murray was the surprise winner of the evenly matched group 20 of the PDC Home Tour. After the first four matches each of the players had won a match.
Scotsman Murray who only has got a Tour card till January won after a close defeat in the first match of the night against the highest ranked player of the group Joe Cullen his matches against Jermaine Wattimena and John Michael. Thanks to his better leg difference he headed the group table. Murray from the start had impressed with his high finishes. As he said for him the whole Pro Tour was something completely new for him and such an online tournament for him made no difference at all.
Joe Cullen - who threw ten 180s during the evening - ended on the second place of the table. After his close win in the opening match of the night he first lost to Jermaine Wattimena but won in the last match of the night with the highest average of the day of 96.9 5:3 against John Michael but as his opponent - who before the last match had a chance to win the group as well - he would have needed a 5:0 win to head the table.
John Michael and a slightly disappointing Jermaine Wattimena, who had filled in on short notice for the injured Jeffrey de Zwaan, both won one match. Wattimena defeated Joe Cullen; John Michael won against Jermaine Wattimena.
In Group 21 on Thursday Rob Cross, Dimitri van den Bergh - who due to the Corona lockdown still resides with Peter Wright, William Borland and Karel Sedlacek (replacement for Derk Telnekes) will compete.
