Florian Hempel first was a professional Handball player before he started with 27 years his career in darts. It took him not long to be successful in local and regional events und joined the Bundesliga team of Blind Gewinnt Dortmund. 2018 he took for the first time part in Q School but couldn't get a Tour Card. Two further attempts in 2019 and 2020 stayed without success as well. 2019 Hempel reached the semi-finals of the German Open and qualified for two European Tour events. Beside he was together with Irina Armstrong the German Mixed Champion.
In 2021 he entered the European Qualifying School for a fourth time and this time won one of the direct Tour Cards.
