Martijn Kleermaker started to play darts when he was 18 after he had watched darts tournaments on TV. First he only played local tournaments in which he was so successful that he qualified in 2016 for the World Masters and the Finder Darts Masters. 2018 he was for the first time nominated for the Dutch national team and reached in the WDF Europe Cup both the pairs and the team final. 2019 was his so far most successful year - Kleermaker celebrated wins in the Westfries Masters and the Westfries Open, won the Luxembourg Open and the Welsh Open and reached the final of the German Open. Thanks to this achievements he qualified as a seeded player for the BDO World Championship 2020 and reached the second round at his debut.
After the World Championship Kleermaker took part in the PDC Qualifying School and got himself a Tour Card. He qualified for the first European Tour Event of the year and reached the third round. On the Pro Tour he had some good results and qualified by the Pro Tour Order of Merit for the PDC World Championship 2021 where he will play South African Cameron Carolissen in the First Round. 2022 he got his so far best result in the PDC when he reached the Last 16 of the PDC World Championship.
