John MaGowan from 1994 to 2001 played in the BDO and was member of the Irish national team. 2001 he could
qualify for the Winmau World Masters but lost first round.
A short time later he switched to the PDC. Despite his advanced age he managed to qualify for several Major tournaments
and he played them with success.
In 2004 he reached the last 16 of the UK Open. In 2005 he stood in the quarterfinales of the World Grand Prix.
2006 he played himself in the semifinals of the UK Open. 2008 he reached the quarterfinal of a Players Championship
and he threw with 67 years of age a Nine-Darter.
Due to the illness and the death of his wife Maggie MaGowan took a break but returned in June 2010 to the circuit.
