As a small boy de Zwaan always wanted to be a football player but when he got a dartboard when he was eight he changed his mind and started to play darts. His first title he won in 2008 - the Leidschendamse Youth Championship. 2010 he took part for the first time in the Zuiderduin Masters, 2012 he won the world Masters Youth title. 2013 de Zwaan changed from youth to men and he reached his first semi-final in the Dutch Open 2014.
2015 de Zwaan decided to switch to the PDC and took part in qualifying School he won his Tour Card on the first day and qualified for the German Darts Championship. Later in the year he took part in the UK Open and during a Players Championship in Barnsley he threw a nine-darter. By the Pro Tour Order of Merit de Zwaan qualified for the PDC World Championship 2016 - his first World Championship ever - but lost first round in a sudden death leg against Michael Smith. In 2018 he reached the semi-finals of the World Matchplay after he had elimnated Michael van Gerwen first round. He again qualified for the PDc World Championships 2019 and 2020 and in 2020 played himself under the Last 16.
