World Cup 2019 - The Debutants 2

Thanks to the qualifiers in different countries 2019 several debutants will take part in the World Cup. The Italian team even consists even of two debutants - Andrea Micheletti and Stefano Tomassetti - and not much is known about them. Micheletti seems to be one of the best Italian dart players. He already without success played the PDC Qualifying School und European Tour Qualifiers. He plays soft-darts as well. A little bit more is known about his partner as Tomassetti played for some time on the WDF/BDO Circuit, reached once the semi-finals of the Italian Grand Masters and won in 2019 the Acropolis Open. He as well played without success the PDC Qualifying School 2019. Both players are of similar age almost closing on 40 years. They will meet in the first round Team Canada in which with Jim Long a debutant will play as well alongside Dawson Murschell.

Since the last PDC World Championship Long is known. He lost in the second round against Benito van de Pas. Long plays the American CDC Circuit and this year already won two of the events. So it seems he is in great from. I think against the Italian team Team Canada has a chance to progress into the next round. More about Long you can read in my Jim Long Interview from the PDC World Championship.

By Qualifiers as well qualified Brazilian Artur Valle and South African Vernon Bouwers. The only thing known about Bouwers is that he won the Last Man Standing Event to qualify. Artur Valle several times was Brazilian nation champion though already some time ago. And he took part in a few WDF tournaments some years back as well. A little bit more can be told about the debutant from Denmark, Niels Heinsoe, who will play together with Per Laursen for his home country. The almost 50 years old Heinsoe plays beside the events of the Nordic and Baltic Tour WDF/BDO events as well. 2009 he won together with the for some time from the dart circuit disappeared Vladimir the pairs of the Denmark Open. Almost ten years later - 2018 - Heinsoe won the Catalonia Open. 2019 he took part in the PDC Qualifying School but didn't get a Tour Card. He played two PDC challenge Tour weekends and in the last two events stood among the last 32. Heinsoe at the moment sits in place 16 of the rankings just one place behind the aforesaid Vladimir Andersen.

Another player giving his debut in the World cup we know from the last PDC World Championship as well - Noel Malicdem. Together with Lourence Ilagan he plays for the Philippines. Team Philippine was not invited to the last two World Cups in 2017 and 2018 but both Ilagan and Malicdem took part in the PDC World Championship 2019. Malicdem - the far less experienced player - defeated in the first round Jeffrey de Graaf convincingly. Both players this year already won an event of the PDC Asia Tour Philippines - which means the will be in form. Might be - should they work as a team - they could cause a few problems for Team England.

One last World Cup debutant I want to introduce here, who played the PDC World Championship 2019 as well - American Chuck Puleo, who will play alongside ever present Darin Young for his home country. They could make a quite good team which will meet in the first round the Chinese team in which there was a last minute replacement as debutant Quingyu Zhan had to withdraw and will be replaced by Yuanjun Liu who will play his third World Cup. More about Puleo you can find in the new Chuck Puleo Interview.
