Gary Anderson played in the BDO from 2002 till February 2007. During his time in the BDO he did win a lot of Open titles but almost every time
already lost first round hampionship - only in 2003 he reached the semifinals. The only televised tournaments he could win till now were the
International Darts Lesgue and the World Darts Trophy in 2007 where he showed a very impressive performance.
In February 2009 he finally changed to the PDC something his fans had hoped for a long time. After a not too good start he reached in 2009 the quarter
finals of the last Las Vegas Desert Classics and 2010 his first televised major final - the UK Open final in Bolton - which he lost to Phil Taylor.
2011 was quite a successful year for Anderson who won several Pro Tour Events and his first Major - the Premier League. The following two and a half years
managed not to drop out of the Top players but his almost lengendary problems with the doubles hindered big success. 2014 again started slow but got better and
better. Anderson won the last of the Players Championships and afterwards the Players Championship Finals. During the World Championship 2015 he was the best and most consistent player and won his first
World Champion title which he defended in 2016. Anderson won two more Major events in 2018 - the UK Open and the World Matchplay. In the PDC World Championship 2019 he was defeated in the semi-finals already fighting with his
back problems which made him to withdraw form the Premier League 2019. 2019 was a year with a lot of ups-and downs and not to many tournament participations for Anderson though he
won together with Peter Wright the PDC World Cup of Darts. In the PDC World Championship 2020 Anderson lost in the Last 16 to Nathan Aspinall. Though 2020 Anderson didn't travel
much due to the Corona pandemic and had some problems with a knee injury as well he won one of the Players Championships, did quite well on the Home Tour, reached the final of
the World Grand Prix and stood in the semi-finals of the Premier League. In the PDC World Championship 2021 Anderson was one of the surprise players and he played himself into the
final where he lost to Gerwyn Price. 2024 was for Anderson a strong year on the Pro Tour with two Players Championship and one European Tour event win. He qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts
where he lost in the semifinals in a very highclass and close match to the later winner Luke Littler.
