Michael Barnard started his darts career as a youth player on the BDO circuit and won in 1001 the Winmau World Masters Youth. 1994 he won the British Teenage Open.
2003 Barnard switched to the PDC but never was as successful as he had been as a youth player. 2006 and 2009 he reached the Last 32 of the UK Open. 2012 and 2015 he had to register for Qualifying School to get a Tour Card. In 2018 he had to return to Qualifying School but this time failed to get a Tour Card. So he played the PDC Challenge Tour and could celebrated three tournament wins. Besides he took part as associate member in a few Players Championships and European Tour events - with some success as well. He ended on first play of the Challenge Tour ranking which means he'll get back his Tour Card. By the Pro Tour Order of Merit he qualified for the PDC World Championship 2019 and will play against Jose de Sousa in his first Round match. For Barnard it is his second World Championship appearance after 2009 when he lost First Round against Andy Hamilton
