Rachel Brooks always was a very competitive woman and practiced Tae kwon do, athletics and show jumping till in 2008 her Achilles tendon snapped twice. As she had to end all impact sports she decided to give darts a try which she before had only played occasionally.
Soon she could celebrate first good results and in 2012 she won her first tournament - the Czech Open. Several other tournaments followed and end of 2013 she was placed forth both in the BDO and the WDF rakings. She qualified 2014 for the BDO World Championship in Lakeside but lost first round to Ann Louise Peters. 2014 was quite a successful year for her though he didn't win a tournament. She reached the semi-finals of the Winmau World Masters where she lost to Fallon Sherrock and qualified again for the BDO World Championship 2015. Brooks reached the quarterfinale but was defeated by Sharon Prins 1:2.
