Leonard Gates is in the USA already for many years a successful player, who plays both ADO tournaments and the CDC Circuit. Beside he is a prolific soft darts player as well who won several Dartslive events and - in 2016 - the NDA Soft Tip Championship.
His first win in a steel-dart event Gates celebrated in 2011, many more wins in ADO events followed. 2017 Gates tried for the first time to qualify for the PDC World Series event in Las Vegas but failed. 2019 he was successful but lost in the first round to Rob Cross. Gates as well played the North American Championship but lost in the semi-finals and just missed out to qualify for the PDC World Championship. In 2020 and 2021 Gates took part in the PDC Qualifying School but couldn't get a Tour Card.
Due to his good results on the ADO Circuit in 2021/22 Gates qualified for the inaugural WDF World Championship 2022 where he moved up under the seeded players. He lost his first match 0:3 to Steve Hine.
