Fin Marko Kantele plays darts since 1989 and first travelled on the BDO/WDF circuit. 1997 he for the first time took part in the Winmau World Master, 2005 he for the first time qualified for the BDO World Championship - his only appearance in the tournament which ended second round.
In 2008 Kantele switched to the PDC and won the finish qualifier for the PDC World Championship 2009 but lost first round to Ronnie Baxter. After this Kantele took part in some PDC Europe events. Together with Petri Korte he formed 2012 Team Finalnd in the PDC World Cup. Kantele plays the tournaments of the SDC Scandinavian Circuit and won till now two of the events. 2015 He returned together with Kim Viljanen to the PDC world Cup but lost the first match against South Africa. In 2016 and 2017 again Team Kantele/Viljanen represented their home country Finland in the PDC world Cup. 2017 Kantele qualified as second of the Nordic- and Baltic Tour Order of Merit for the preliminary round of the PDC World Championship 2018. 2019 Kantele got a Tour Card in the European Qualifying School and now plays on the PDc Circuit. He qualified for the PDC World Championship 2020 but again lost First Round - this time to William O'Connor.
