Welshman Mark Layton started to play in to some PDC events in 2001 but was not successful. 2012 he qualified for the UK Open and reached the last 64. 2013 he appeared in the Winmau World Masters and reached the last 32. In the following years Layton played both BDO events and PDC Challenge Tour events. 2017 came his so far only tournament win - the Malta Open. In 2018 he stood in several BDO events among the last 16 and reached the final of the Wolverhampton Open. By this he qualified for the first time for the BDO World Championship 2019 but lost first round against Welsh fellow country man Wayne Warren.
