2012 he took part in the PDC World Championship Qualifier East Europe but lost in the last 16. In 2013 he qualified for the Austrian Darts Open - an event of the PDC European Tour - but last first round. 2013 he didn't survive the qualifier but took part in the Bulls Super League Eastern. As runner-up of the final he got a place in the PDC World championship as the winner Mensur Suljovic was already qualified by the European Order of Merit. Lerchbacher was eliminated first round by Michael van Gerwen. But a short time later Lerchbacher took part in the PDC Qualifying School 2014 and got a Tour Card by the tournament ranking. As he was not really successfull on the Pro Tour he had to give it back end of 2015. In 2016 he again took part in Qualifying School but didn't manage to get back his Tour Card. But he three times qualified for European Tour events during the year.

Lerchbacher won the final of the Bulls Super League Eastern 2016 and qualified for the PDC World Championship 2017. He lost first round to Robert Thornton. He qualified as well for the UK Open 2017 - but lost his frist match. In the same year he for the first time reached the final of a Players Championship and qualified for the PDC World Championship 2018, where he was elimnated second round. But that was enough to bring him back under the top 64 of the ranking which meant he had his Tour Card back. He was nominated together with Mensur Suljovic as Team Austria for the PDC World Cup in 2018 and 2019. 2019 the Team reached th quarterfinals. By the South-/East European qualifier Lerchbacher qualified for the PDC World Championship 2020 and reached the second round. But that was not enough to keep his Tour Card and he failed to get it back by the Qualifying School 2020 as well.
2021 Lerchbacher made the next attempt and this time he regained his Tour Card.
