Wes Newton played since 2004 and from 2005 till 2016 he took part in every PDC World Championship. Three times he reached the quarterfinals of the event. In 2015 he lost a memorable match in the Sudden Death Leg to Cristo Reyes. Paul Hinks had forgotten that before a Sudden Death Legs the players had to throw for the bull first and he only remembered it when two slightly confused players already had started the leg. The leg was cancelled, the players threw for the bull and started again. Reyes was less rattled than Newton and won the match. Two times Newton stood in the semifinals of the Las Vegas Desert Classic where he in 2009 threw his first televised Nine-Darter. 2011 Newton stood in the final of the UK Open. 2012 he reached the final of the Players Championship Finals. Till 2014 he was one of the top players of the PDC who qualified for most of the Majors and played with success on the Pro Tour. Then a shoulder injury started to bother him more and more and he slid down the rankings. In 2017 he lost his Tour Card and till now he failed to retrieve it. He now plays both in BDO events and on the Challenge Tour.
Newton comes from a family of dart players - both his father and his cousin are amateur players and his brother Dale for some time played with the professionals too. Wes Newton is no full time pro - he has a part-time job as book-keeper.
