Denis Ovens is one of the most consistent and as he says the most underestimated player on the PDC Pro Tour. He is quite successful in the floor tournaments but is not really able to performe the same on the big stage.
Ovens played from 1986 to 2000 for the BDO. His best BDO result was to reach the quarterfinals of World Masters in 1999.
He changed to the PDC in 2000 and it looks he almost every time loses in the secong round of the Major tournaments. Once in 2005 he stood in the quarterfinals of the World Championship and in 2009 in the finale of the German Darts Championship which helped him to a place in the Grand Slam. But he could win more open titles then any other PDC player.
In 2010 he suddenly showed an excellent form which got him into four Pro Tour finals so far and he managed to play himself into the semifinals of the UK Open.
Ovens is well-known for his unshaven look due to the fact that he always lost when he was clean-shaven. Ovens never gave up his job as a foreman - for him to only play darts is not enough.
