In 2009 Devon Petersen took part for the first time in the South African Open, which serves as qualifier for the South African dart players to
qualify for the PDC World Championship. He was beaten in the final.
2010 he tried and this time won the final. So he played in the Rreliminary Round of the PDC World Championship 2011. In 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 he again represented South Africa in the PDC World Championship. In 2019 he reached the fourth round - so far his best results.. 2011 Petersen took part for the first in Qualifying School and got a Tour Card but had to give it back end of 2012. As he had an arm injury he took a break and only played the PDC World Championship qualifications and played as part of the Team South Africa the PDC World Cup. 2015 he again took part in Qualifying School and got it back. Petersen - who by now lives in England - didn't really make an impact on the PDC Pro Tour. It tokk till 2020 before he for the first time reached the final of a Players Championship and won his first European Tour event. Beside he reached the Last 16 of the World Grand Prix and the Grand Slam of Darts.
Petersen is well known for his walk-on which he ends on stage with a few dance movements. Since 2019 Peterson is one of Sky Sports darts pundits.
