Canadian Jeff Smith comes from a family of dart players und thinks he can remember that he was three years old when his grandfather first
introduced him to the sport. Smith was a successful Youth player and won from 1990 - 1994 the New Brunswick Youth Champion title. Then he
changed to the seniors and won the title several times again. Between 2003 and 2008 he took a break from darts but returned to success in
2008. 2011 he took part in the Winmau World Masters; in 2012 he played the PDC Qualifying School and won a Tour Card but didn't use it very
often. In 2013 he played together with John Part as Team Canada the PDC World Cup of Darts.
In 2014 Smith returned to the BDO, took part in the Winmau World Masters where he narrowly missed out the last 16, but qualified for the BDO
World Championship 2015. He played himself into the semifinals but lost against the later World Champion Scott Mitchell. One year later Smith reached the final of the World Championship where he lost to Scott Waites.
By this result Smith got a place in the Grand Slam 2016 and played himself among the last 16. Smith took part again in the BDO World Championship 2017 but this time was eliminated second round. He was part of the Canadian team in the WDF World Cup and won the men's singles. Smith qualified for the PDC World Championship 2018 but lost in the first round to Gary Anderson. He took part in Qualifying School 2018 without success and played on the Challenge Tour. Smith won later in the year the North American Championship and by this was again qualified for the PDC World Championship but couldn't get around Josh Payne in the first round. In January 2020 he gave Qualifying School another try and this time succeeded. In the first Players Championship he reached the final. Smith qualified for his first European Tour Event and teamed up with Matt Campbell for the PDC World Cup. Team Canada reached the quarterfinals and Jeff Smith for the first time qualified by the Pro Tour Order of Merit for the PDC World Championship. He lost Second Round to Chris Dobey.
