BDO Darts Week

It's a big week for the BDO in Hull.
It is a big week for The BDO next week with three qualifying events and the Winmau World Masters. All of them take place in Hull -STOP PRESS - Alll events are in the City Hall, Hull this year, not the sports arena!

Grand Slam Qualifier
The first event starts on Tuesday and will give two players the golden ticket to take on the might of the PDC at the Grand Slam in November. Already in are BDO Lakeside World Champion Scott Mitchell, runner-up Martin Adams, 2015 World Trophy champion Geert De Vos and the 2014 World Masters winner Martin Phillips.
A further two players will qualify in a separate European qualifier later this month. Some names to look out for in the draw are: Glen Durrant, our sponsored player Tony Broughton, Fallon Sherrock and Deta Hedman.
Lakeside Qualifier
On Wednesday there are 4 spaces up for grabs to get to Lakeside. We know 27 of the entries already, 28 (Ted Hankey) if someone already qualified wins the Winmau World Masters. There is always a great, if manic atmosphere at this event and the Winmu qualifier for the players and spectators!

Winmau World Masters Qualifier
Thursday sees the Winmau qualifiers. There is another classy looking field vying for a spot at the main event on Friday, including our sponsored players Peter Sajwani and Tony Broughton -

Winmau World Masters 2015
This is the 42nd Winmau World Masters and it really is a terrific event. I have been fortunate enough to have helped behind the scenes at the last two and if I hadn't of been I would have been a spectator. I urge all darts fans to get along if you can. It is fantastic value for the amount of top darts on show. You can get tickets here: Winmau World Masters Tickets.

OK, advert over, who is going to win? According to the bookies the front runners look like this:
Glen Durrant 7/2
Martin Adams 6/1
Scott Mitchell 15/2
Jamie Hughes 12/1
Jeffrey de Graaf 14/1
Scott Waites 14/1
Wesley Harms 14/1
Last year's Winmau Master Martin Phillips 20/1
Geert de Vos 33/1
Darius Labanauskas 33/1

BDO ranked number 1 player Durrant is favourite but 7/2 isn't very tempting. Adams at 6/1 will interest some. What about the World Champion, Scotty told me that all this glorious weather we are having is playing havoc with his practice time, as a contract gardener he has been busy cutting grass and fulfilling his exhibition work. A watching brief for Scotty Dog I feel.
I would be looking at Jamie Hughes at 12/1 with Bet Victor or Darius at 33/1. Labanauskas had had a great season. Jamie Hughes has also had a good year and needs to add a big title to his CV to gain the recognition he deserves.
