Josh Payne played for around one year on the BDO circuit and represented England in the Europe Cup. Beside he played from 2011 on the PDC Youth Tour. In 2013 he won a Challenge Tour event and qualified for two of the European Tour events. He as well took part in the World soft dart tournament in La Rochelle in France. 2014 he reached three Development Tour finals and won one of the events. He finished second in the Youth tour Order and by this won a two years Tour Card.
In 2015 he qualified for the UK Open and played himself into the fourth round losing there to Mensur Suljovic. He stood in the quarterfinals of the Dutch Darts Masters and the finals of two Development Tour events. In 2016 he again won on the Development Tour but won a Players Championship as well and by this qualified for the World Matchplay where he lost first round to Robert Thornton. By the Pro Tour Order of Merit he qualified for the PDC World Championship 2017 where he lost first round to Terry Jenkins. 2019 and 2020 he returned but till now didn't progress further than the second round. Payne still waits for the breakthrough. On the Pro Tour he reached the later rounds of some of the Players Championships and in 2018 one his second one. He qualified for a few European Tour events as well.
Payne's manager is the former ladies number 1 Linda Duffy.
