PDC World Championship - Semifinals
Both semifinals were rather one-sided. The first semi-final between Peter Wright and Simon Whitlock

while Whitlock just not couldn't keep up. He'll meet in the final Michael van Gerwen who was even more dominant in his
semifinal against Adrian Lewis who was scoring well but couldn't hit his doubles. So in the end he was whitewashed 0:6 by the young Dutchman.

World Matchplay - First Day
On the first evening of the World Matchplay for the first time ever an Austrian dart player stood on the stage of the
Empress Ballroom but with Raymond van Barneveld he had a much too strong opponent and lost with 4:10. Similar clear Terry Jenkins defeated
Andy Smith - who just couldn't keep up - in the first match of the tournament.
Far more thrilling was the clash between James Wade and John Part who showed a lot of bottle but in the end lost 8:10. Simon Whitlock had some problems against Jelle Klaasen as well who
fought back to 8:9. But Whitlock had the throw in the last leg and dead certain hit double 16.

Colin Lloyd impressed as well against Peter Wright. Robert Thornton to be sure was the "hero" of the evening - despite being in a lot of pain because of a pulled muscle in his back
he prevailed against a seemingly slighty mentally absent Brendan Dolan 6:2. No chance at all had German Tomas Seyler in the
weakest match of the evening against Raymond van Barneveld who just returned from his break in Las Vegas - he missed too many doubles and lost 1:6.

Scott Waites new BDO World Champion
Scott Waites is the BDO World Champion 2013. He defeated in a rather disappointing and one-sided final Tony O'Shea with 7:1. The averages of both players were were quite far below 90 - Waites averaged 86.43, O'Shea 81.90.
O'Shea who had impressed both in the quarterfinal and the semi-final with good performances never really was in the match but Scott Waites was not really convincing either and never came near the performance with which
he won the Grand Slam in 2013.

Anastasia Dobromyslova for the third time World Champion
Anastasia Dobromyslova got with a 2:1 win against Lisa Ashton her third World Champion title. The final was a very even match and Lisa Ashton was a worthy opponent who threw the only 180 of the match and a 120 finish.
Both players averaged over 80. In the third leg of the third match Ashton showed nerves and missed her chance to take the lead. Dobromyslova used her advantage and won this leg and the next one to claim the title fo a second successive year.
The ladies final was played between the two men's semi-finals. In the first semi-final Scott Waites had now problems at all against debutant Richie George who just couldn't manage to settle on stage. So Waites got a 5:0 lead without losing a single leg.
Then finally George found his way into the match and won set 6. But unimpressed Wiates continued his run and won the match in the next set. He for the first time stands in a Lakeside final.
The second semi-final was a much closer affair and the first four sets were shared between Wesley Harms and Tony O'Shea. After the second break O'Shea with some impressived darts got a two set lead. But it was the Dutchman wo returned the stronger from the third break and he levelled 4:4.
O'Shea digged deep and finally won the match 6:4. Like last year Harms again was the loser of this contest and again O'Shea progressed into the final.

BDO World Championship
The second quarterfinal evening was not as high class as the first but nevertheless both matches were thrilling. The best performance of tte evening showed Scott Waites who defeated Paul Jennings 5:2. First Waites clearly dominated
and in almost every leg reached the doubles first because of his higher scoring. With a 4:0 lead he went into the second break. It was Jennings who returned from the break much more determined and better playing and he won the next two sets
while nothing went together for a more and more frustrated Scott Waites. But in the last set Waites was back in the match and secured himself the set for the win.
The second quarterfinal as well developed into an interesting match. First Jan Dekker was by far the better player and he had a 3:1 lead going into the second break. After the break it was the young Dutchman who couldn't hit the high scores
and who missed his doubles and George first levelled and then took the 4:3 lead. In set eight George's problems from the beginning were back and Dekker won the set without losing a leg. George didn't give in and fought back in the last set
and managed to win set and match. He progressed into the semi-finals where he will meet Scott Waites.
The ladies semi-final was a very close match beetween former World Champion Trina Gulliver and reigning World Champion Dobromyslova prevailed 2:1 and will now play Lisa Ashton in the final.

BDO World Championship
Both Wesley Harms and Tony O'Shea won their quarterfinals and will now meet as last year in the semi-finals.
The match between Wesley Harms and Darryl Fitton at the beginning was a rather even match, but than Harms got stronger and dominated. Tony O'Shea throughout the match scored better and more consistently then Robbie Green
but suffered the whole match under double trouble and almost every time needed more then one dart to hit the winning double. Both matches were high class and interesting - a real good evening of darts. All players averaged over 90.
By reaching the semi-finals probably crowd favourite O'Shea and Dutchman Harms again will be invited to the Grand Slam of darts and both again will be offered a PDC Tour Card. Last year Ted Hankey was the only semi-finalist who accepted the
offer and switched to the PDC.
The first ladies semifinal was won by Lisa Ahston who defeated Sharon Prins 2:0 without losing a single leg. She reached the ladies final for the first time.

After the end of the second round Scott Waites is the highest seeded player still in the tournament. He defeated Belgian Geert de Vos without problems 4:1 and now will meet Paul Jennings in the quarterfinals
who won against Irishman Jason Cullen with 4:0. The Irishman was rather nervous at his Lakside debut, had a lot of double trouble and only won three legs while Jennings turned out to be a very clinical finisher.
Garry Thompson on his 48. Birthday didn't get a darts birthday present but lost a rather close match against Jan Dekker who is exactly half his age with 3:4. In the match of the two young talents Richie George prevailed over Jimmy Hendriks with a 4:2 win.
Bobbie George's son threw eight 180s, his opponent four.

BDO World Championship
The second round of the BDO World Championship started with a rather so-so evening. The first and the last match of the evening were rather one-sided
and Robbie Green and Tony O'Shea both progressed with a 4:1 win into the quarterfinals. Tony O'Shea's performance on the whole was more convincing then Robbie Green's and both opponents
played rather weak. In Steve Dougles case it to be sure was due to his illness - he's still recovering from a heart attack he had mid of December. The match between Wesley Harms and Alan Norris never really was gripping
though it went into a deciding seventh set. The match winner Harms impressed in parts with his clinical finishing, Norris more with his 180s. But all in all both players scored and finished rather inconsistently.
The best match of the evening - and the best match of the World Championship so far - was the match between number 1 seed Stephen Bunting and Darryl Fitton. Both players averaged over 90, both played consistently on
a high level and both had chances to win the match. In the end it was Darryl Fitton who progessed with a 3:2 win into the next round.

white washed Dutchman Willy van de Wiel 3:0.
The first match of the evening was the last of the ladies quarterfinals. Trina Gulliver beat Julie Gore thanks to her clinical finishing 2:0.

Jan Dekker - a 150 Finish.

Phil Taylor wins 16. World Champion title
Phil Taylor won the final of the World Championship against Michael van Gerwen with 7:4. The young Dutchman had dominated the first two sets of the match and won them. Phil Taylor managed to
draw 2:2 but van Gerwen again won two sets in a row and regained the lead. But then he seemed to lose momentum while Taylor got stronger and stronger. He first got the 4:4 and then won three more sets
to win the match 7:4. So Phil Taylor is the first winner of the new Sid Waddell trophy - quite appropriate as the commentator who passed away last year was a big Phil Taylor fan.
For reaching the final Michael van Gerwen was awarded with a place in Premier League 2013. The other Premier League participants probably will be announced tomorrow night.
For referee and caller Bruce Spendley the World Championship final was his last appearance on the big PDC stage.
